We’re Ahna, Tarsia and Zesha, the sisters and co-founders behind skopology.
We’re daughters of two artists, who grew up surrounded by lots of clay, charcoal, plaster, sculptures, drawings, paintings, and ceramics, Zen philosophy, and a love of Japanese design.
As we got older, one of us became a scientist and artist, and the other two graphic design and marketing gurus. Over the past few years we have renovated our homes ourselves selecting unique items, many with a nod to science and art. Ahna went whole hog and designed her entire kitchen with a science art theme, right down to even virus shaped pendant lights!
We have now joined up together to create collections of scientific art inspired home goods with the goal of inserting science art design in everyone's lives. Equally, we would like to promote up and coming science artists around the world that use biological forms in their work.
We started skopology to bring science art design to the masses. Science and art should be in your everyday! With skopology you now have one place to find it!
– welcome to skopology
What does your name mean? SKOP is our last name. skopology is the branch of science art knowledge that runs through our veins as scientists, artists, marketing gurus, and graphic designers.
What are your values and mission? At skopology, our mission is to find and curate products that celebrate the beauty of science while also highlighting science artists from all over the world.
Our main goal was to create a company that would impact the public about science in a unique way, while also giving back to communities that have been historically marginalized in science.
A majority of our proceeds are donated to programs that impact STEM diversity and STEAM outreach programs at the K-12 and college-age level.
We donate part of our proceeds to STEM/STEAM organizations!
We look for partners who are making change in STEM or STEAM fields, with focus on STEM diversity. Our most recent charity partner was SACNAS, an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of underrepresented people in STEM, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM. If you are a STEM or STEAM organization interested in partnering with us, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
